THE STORY OF MONSTER BAGELS

Monster Bagels began in February of 2022 by Mark and his wife, Samantha Ferrusi. They began making bagels right out of the home kitchen and quickly realized the people of Camden, Lugoff, and surrounding areas really love a good bagel! It was with the support of the community that opening a Deli and Bakery became a reality. Mark was born in upstate New York and raised by his beloved Grandmother. Mark's love for good food is a direct result of his Grandmother, who was a chef and owned her own restaurant The Red Checkered Kitchen in Buchanan, NY. Mark grew up watching his grandmother bake and make authentic Italian foods and soon found himself in the kitchen doing the same. He carried this love for Italian food throughout his life as it reminded him of what’s important, family. One of the earliest memories Mark has is sharing freshly baked bagels around a huge oak table filled with his family. Mark is quoted saying, “There is nothing like having a bagel with someone you love”. After high school, he graduated from Sage College of Albany with a Bachelor's degree. He excelled in his studies becoming senior class president and graduated with honors. Mark has five kids who are the love of his life, Savanna, Ryleigh, Charlee, Vivian, and Brody, and he looks forward to having his children learn the art of baking with him at Monster Bagels. He believes there is nothing more important then family and contributes his success to the support of his wife and family, and the people around him that God placed in his life. As a true New Yorker who found his way to the south, Mark is excited to bring authentic New York bagels, sandwiches, and other New York favorites to the amazing citizens of Kershaw County.
